In 1943, in the heart of Quebec, Noël-Aimé Auclair and his wife Noëlla founded Auclair Transport, laying the foundations of a family-run moving empire. Noëlla, the pillar of the company, managed the office and customer relations while looking after their 11 children, several of whom would eventually join the family business.
Gilbert, one of their sons, quickly distinguished himself with his commitment and
expertise on the roads of Canada and the United States. In 1971, Noël-Aimé acquired Rapide Transport and joined forces with his sons to take the company to the next level.
This made it the first company to offer year-round ground
moving services in an area previously accessible only by boat during the summer. The route from Quebec City, stretching 1,520 km, took 36 hours of intense travel.
In 1995, a series of acquisitions led to the creation of Les Déménagements Rapides Inc., establishing the company as the largest family-owned
moving business in Quebec.
In the 2000s, Gilbert Auclair, his wife Carole, and their three sons, Sébastien, Nicholas, and David-Lee, left Les Déménagements to set up their own company, Les Déménagements et Entreposages Astral.
From 2000 to 2012, Sébastien Auclair traveled across the United States, serving customers and offering specialized services with his own U.S. operating license. In 2012, he became a moving consultant, and in 2015, he developed the Labrador region alongside Gilbert and David.
From 2016, the company innovated further by providing moves to the Labrador coast by air. During the winter, moves were completed by snowmobile from the residence to the airport, demonstrating the company's adaptability and ingenuity in overcoming logistical challenges.
The new generation, represented by Sébastien Auclair's children, Sandrine and Benjamin, have started to get involved with the company as summer employees, promising to continue the family legacy in the moving industry.
Today, with the third generation at the helm, the company continues to thrive, symbolizing innovation and excellence in the moving industry, while honouring the vision and values of Noël-Aimé and Noëlla Auclair. Would you like to do business with a company that upholds strong family values?
